Windows & More is excited about Front Street Village in Beaufort, NC

Beaufort, NC? Where do we even begin to tell you about Beaufort and Front Street Village?

Beaufort was an Indian fishing village in the early 1700’s. It was incorporated in 1723, at which time it was named for the Duke of Beaufort, and it was known as Fishtowne. In the 1890’s, Beaufort housed one of the several menhaden fisheries, named Beaufort Fisheries. Beaufort Fisheries saw Beaufort through the ages, providing jobs for local fishermen, and was a witness as Beaufort grew into the thriving town that it is today. Sadly, in 2005, Beaufort Fisheries closed its doors, closing down a landmark of Carteret County and Beaufort, NC. “The old fish factory” has been a familiar welcoming site to locals and tourists alike through the years.

As the residents were sad to see “the old fish factory” close, Bucki and Wendi Oliver saw something different. As visitors to Beaufort for years, they decided to make Beaufort their home. As Bucki and Wendi Oliver were sitting on their porch on Front Street in Beaufort, they both had a vision of what could be for “the Old Fish Factory”. Instead of seeing it as a sad occasion, they saw the potential of the property where the factory had sat for years, and the potential that it could offer to the town of Beaufort, Carteret County, as well as the residents and tourists.

Thus, the vision for FRONT STREET VILLAGE was born. Windows & More (A Marvin Design Gallery), located at the Coastal Home Gallery in Carteret County in Morehead City, is extremely excited that Bucki and Wendi Oliver had this vision for “the old fish factory”, and is thrilled for what this means for Beaufort.
